Teacher: How are you getting on, Jane? You are studying hard, aren’t you?

Jane: Yeah, really hard. I am exhausted. You know, I’m really looking forward to my summer holidays and having time off!

Teacher: Why are you so excited about your summer holidays? You are going to travel or do something special this time, aren’t you?

Jane: You know me quite well, yeah. I don’t like doing the same things again and again.

Teacher: Nobody does, I think. I remember you would like to go to the summer camp again, wouldn’t you? You and your sister were there last year, weren’t you?

Jane: Exactly. That’s why I’m thinking about the eco tour to Siberia.

Teacher: Are you? Wow. You’ve never been to eco tours before, have you?

Jane: No, I haven't. But it sounds great, doesn’t it?

Teacher: Yes, it does… Well, thank you, Jane, for sharing your amazing plan with us. See you.

Jane: Bye, everyone.

You are studying hard, aren’t you?

You are going to travel or do something special this time, aren’t you?

You would like to go to the summer camp again, wouldn’t you?

You and your sister were there last year, weren’t you?

You’ve never been to eco tours before, have you?

But it sounds great, doesn’t it?

Type of the sentence

Structure

Example

Affirmative sentence

V (+), tag (–)?

The grass is green, isn’t it?

Negative sentence

V (–), tag (+)?

You don’t drink coffee, do you?

  • I am: I am clever, aren’t I?

  • Positive imperative: Stop shouting, will you?

  • Negative imperative: Don’t stop playing the piano, will you?

  • Let’s: Let’s go to the cinema, shall we?

  • This/that is: This is your textbook, isn’t it?
